May 2025 PTA Happenings

Happy, happy May! We're sure that like us, you're all getting ready for the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation. We know it's a busy time of year with all the end of school year events, the nicer weather, gearing up of sports and other activities, etc. We hope you can take a minute to put some of the PTA happenings on your calendar as well so that we can end this year with a strong push of support for the students at Orchard Hills Elementary as we celebrate all they've accomplished this year!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is from May 5 to May 9 this year and, boy, are we excited! We sure love all the faculty and staff members that work so tirelessly to teach and guide our students throughout the school year. It's such a great time to stop and thank each of them during this week. We have an exciting schedule for this week all revolving around the theme of The Wizard of Oz/Wicked. Each day the PTA will celebrate teachers and staff with luncheons, treats, and small gifts. We also encourage students to participate by following along with the schedule each day and participating in the event that day:

• Monday, The Emerald City: Wear green to school
• Tuesday, Somewhere Over the Rainbow: Chalk art outside on the sidewalks (chalk provided by PTA)
• Wednesday, Munchkin Land: Wear your teacher's favorite color
• Thursday, You're Gonna Be Popular: Give teachers and staff compliments when you see them
• Friday, Defying Gravity: Bring your teacher a note, picture, or treat

Field Day

We'll be holding Field Day on Tuesday, May 20th! We love this event each year as it's such a fun way to celebrate the students at our school and let them have fun doing all sorts of little games and activities. We plan to have a wide variety stations this year that students will rotate through with their classes in the afternoon. They'll have time at each station doing the game or activity before finishing up the afternoon with a water fun activity: running through the firetruck water! Santaquin City's Fire Station will spray water for the students to run through. As such we encourage students to bring swimwear or something they can get wet in. A towel would also be a good idea!

PTA's Annual Fundraising Event

In an effort to understand what would suit our school's community better, we've created a Google Form to collect information on what to do for next year's annual fundraising event. Traditionally, we've held a school carnival on the school grounds. Please take a moment to fill out the Google Form so we can understand how best to proceed as we make plans for next year's event.

Welcome to the New PTA Board

We'd like to welcome the new PTA Executive Board Members! We're so excited to welcome the leadership and enthusiasm of these people as they prepare to step into their roles for the coming two years.

Call for Additional Volunteer Help for PTA Happenings Next Year

As always, we would welcome any volunteer help particularly in chairing a committee over an event in the 2025/2026 school year. There are so many activities and events that the PTA coordinates throughout the year and we'd love additional help in getting these off the ground. And many of our activities and events range in needed volunteer hours from very few to maybe a handful. Please ask us for more info if you'd be interested in helping out.
